I am a Biomedical Engineer by academic training and experience. For over 20 years, I designed and developed intricate and sophisticated medical devices and instrumentation for use by surgeons in several specialties. As a result of that background, I am by nature detail-oriented and persistent in my pursuit of technical solutions. Building custom acoustic guitars has been a natural extension of my training and personality. Ultimately, my guitars have become a purposeful combination of tradition, science, art and aesthetics.
I come from a musical family and have been playing guitar since I was 12 years old. I have been building them since 2002. My first 10 guitars were gifted to my sons, brothers and friends and have been played regularly by their owners. As part of this early experience, I have been able to elicit valuable feedback from both the casual as well as the working musician. In spite of these guitars having been my test subjects, they continue to perform and bring joy to those who play and hear them after many years. I expect that they will be handed down to the next generation as originally intended.
My Mission in building guitars is to offer the best possible instrument that I can produce. I will use the highest quality materials and techniques available in order to make a guitar that will please the musician…guaranteed! I chose to offer 6 models that cover the various steel string playing techniques and musical genres from the clarity of fingerstyle to the hard driving fullness of flat-picking. In all cases, each unique guitar is built with each unique musician in mind.
They are individualized guitars that are specifically fitted to each player’s hands and individually voiced to please each musician’s ear. I welcome the ability to translate the critical and demanding player's desires into a full sounding guitar that can express his passion and enable his creativity. I want the experience to be interactive at every stage of the building process. No detail is too small to consider…if we can define it, we can build it.
My Goal for the experience is to initially design a guitar for a client and ultimately deliver it to a satisfied friend. |
