Newsletter Launched

Back in December, 2010 I was honored to show my guitars at the 10th Annual Woodchoppers Ball held in Kent Ohio. The event is the brainchild of Brian Henke, a guitar virtuoso from Cleveland. He and 8 other fantastic guitarists put on a 3-hour show to about 500 fans and kept us clapping until we had hand blisters. Proceeds from the show went to the Northeast Ohio Homeless Association.  Those guitarists included the following professionals:

  • Brian Henke
  • Patrick Woods
  • Neil Jacobs
  • Kerry Kean
  • Helen Avakian
  • Mark Sganga
  • Joe Rollin Porter
  • Shohei Toyoda
  • Major Lee

During breaks in the show, I started collecting names and email addresses ultimately for a newsletter I planned to produce. Fast forward to March 2011 and the first Donohue Guitars Newsletter flies off into cyber-space. Why do I need or want a newsletter? A simple reason actually... to continue my objective of getting to know guitar players and trying to impart any knowledge I have that might help in their proficiency and enjoyment of everything guitar. I consciously attempt to include features related to playability and sound that have a direct relationship to players' preferences. For 8 years now I have been placing various guitars into the hands of critical players and picking their brains as to what makes a guitar special or a dud. I thank you all for your help.

So the subject matter of the Newsletter will include current interests and projects as well as a monthly tutorial regarding guitar issues. These issues will be geared to a general understanding of how guitars work and how we can get the best sound and performance from our guitars. I would love to have the newsletter be somewhat interactive so feel free to email me with your comments and questions. Finally, if you're not already on the mailing list, use the active signup button at the bottom of the website home page and I'll send you the maiden issue. Volume 2  will be available during the first week of April.
